Executive Interview Video Production | Tysons Corner, VA

Case Study · Executive Interview Production · Tysons Corner, VA
A single Canon C70, one light, and a Tysons Corner high-rise delivered broadcast-quality executive interviews for a DC-area defense & technology firm. Executive video content has a specific job to do. It needs to make leadership credible, the organization trustworthy, and the message memorable — in the first few seconds, before a viewer decides to keep watching. That requires more than a camera and a willing subject. It requires a producer who understands how to prepare executives for camera, how to shape an interview environment that reduces anxiety and improves performance, and how to make editorial decisions on set that save time in post.
This shoot was for a defense and technology firm whose leadership team needed content for internal communications, recruiting, and external thought leadership — formats that demand consistency across multiple subjects shot in a single session. The brief wasn't just "film our executives." It was "make them look like they belong on a national platform."

The Setup

This shoot had one goal: make two busy executives look like a million dollars on camera without turning their office into a film set. No second camera. No sprawling grip package. Just a thoughtful, lean production that let the location and the gear do the work without compromises.

Looks Delivered in Post
The location — a high-rise office tower in Tysons Corner, VA with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Fairfax County skyline — made the most expensive production decision for us: use the architecture. A panoramic view of green urban canopy and city skyline communicates executive stature in a way no studio backdrop ever could, and it costs nothing extra.

The Gear

Item Role
Canon EOS C70 Cinema-grade 4K capture — wide and close-up delivered from one position
Large Octabox Key Light Wraparound key balanced against window ambient — dimensional, not flat
Rode NTG3 Shotgun Mic Boom-mounted broadcast audio — clean dialogue, no lav visible on talent
Fluid Head Tripod Locked-off interview framing — precise, repeatable between subjects

The 4K Reframe Advantage

Shooting 4K on the C70 means the full-resolution file contains more information than any single delivery format needs. In post, that headroom becomes a second angle: the wide shot uses the full frame; the close-up is a punched-in reframe that still exits at full HD or 4K delivery resolution with zero quality loss.
The client gets a wide establishing look and an intimate close-up — both cut-ready, both sharp — from a single camera position that never moved.

The Interview Video Results

The wide shot grounds each executive in their environment. The close-up brings the viewer into the message. Together, they make for interview content that holds attention and reflects well on the brand — all from a setup that packed into a single vehicle and was ready to shoot in under an hour.

The Takeaway for DC-Area Organizations

If your leadership team needs video content that looks like it belongs in a national brand campaign, the answer isn't always more cameras or a bigger crew. A disciplined one-camera setup with the right cinema body, one well-placed light, and a strong location will outperform a crowded multi-camera production in image quality, subject comfort, and editorial flexibility — every time.
